After loads of hype (and a leak), the NHL 16 features have finally been revealed. Scheduled for a September release, NHL 16 will only be available on current gen consoles. Below is a recap of the various features we can expect to see in NHL 16.
Hockey Ultimate Team
There are not a ton of details regarding the return of HUT in NHL 16. However, two big additions have been made. Play a Friend has finally come to current gen consoles, and the addition of Single Player Seasons means there will be a lot more to do in HUT for NHL 16. HUT is the most played mode in the NHL series, so we expect to see a lot more info come out in the months leading up to NHL 16's release in September.
EA SPORTS Hockey League Returns
One of the most loved features makes its debut on current gen consoles after a noticeable absence in NHL 15. EASHL puts you in the skates of a single player on a team consisting of other human controlled players. Your squad and you then take on other 6 player EASHL teams in a test of skill and teamwork.
6 v. 6 Online Team Play
Exactly what it sounds like, pick a team and play online with up to 12 skaters including user controlled goalies. Compete in ranked drop-in games, or create a private match with your friends.
Online Couch Co-Op
Now you and the friends on your couch can hop online and play together. It isn't clear just how many users can play on the same console, but this is still a feature that many requested from last year.
Be a GM
Unfortunately there is no confirmation that Be a GM will be online. Based off its location with the single-player modes on the release page, we doubt there will be a "Connected" version for this mode. One improvement though is the addition of player morale. Players now have different personalities, which adds complexity to things like trade demands, relationships, and more.
Be a Pro
Be a Pro has seen a lot of attention in NHL 16. Now your on-ice actions influence what attributes you earn, meaning the way you play is the way your Pro will grow. The ability to Sim to your next shift and work your way up from the CHL also make a return in NHL 16.
Those on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 can still get their fix in what is being called "NHL Legacy Edition". Not much has been revealed for this version, other than it claims to bring together " the most popular modes and award-winning gameplay features from nine years of NHL hockey".
